There are a number of events taking place in the village this year as part of the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations. As and when we receive more details we will post updates here.
We've already taken part in the 'Clean for the Queen' event that saw volunteers tidying up the village in preparation for the Queen's birthday. We hope to organise another clean-up day before the Queen's official birthday in June.
April
On Thurs 21 April at 10am you will be able to listen to the Bell Ringers’ quarter peal. The Parish Council and Sports Association are also holding a bonfire and barbecue on the Sports Field from 6.30pm. There is a national lighting of beacons/bonfires taking place across the country that evening at 8pm and we are looking forward to being a part of the celebrations. Please bring along your Rounders and Croquet sets for an evening of good old fashioned village fun! Cobham Primary School's PTA are organising a barbecue so you will be well fed too!
April - June
Cobham Parish Council is organising a Front of House floral competition as part of the celebrations for the Queen’s 90th birthday this year. We hope that many of you will take part so that Cobham and Sole Street are looking their best! If you would like to take part, please decorate your front gardens/window baskets/hanging baskets – whatever is your front of house. We have appointed a judge who will be visiting the village during the week commencing 6 June and the winner will be announced at the Gardeners’ Society Summer Show on Saturday 11 June. There will be prizes awarded for the best front garden floral display and best window box/hanging basket.
We would like as many of you as possible to enter the competition. To register, please contact the clerk by emailing [email protected] or call 01474 814701.
