The commissioning of new re-signalling system for the Hither Green area that was due to take place over the Easter holiday has been postponed. Network Rail and their contractors - Siemens and Balfour Beatty - were not able to complete the work in the four-day period as planned due to Public Health England social distancing guidelines.
Instead, Network Rail will be carrying out general station improvements, signalling resilience in the Lewisham area and the installation of electrical safety equipment to improve the efficiency of our engineering work.
Affected lines and stations will close as plannedThe planned line and station closures for the Easter weekend will be in operation with a replacement bus service, as advertised in journey planners and on the Southeastern website.
We are encouraging people to follow the Government’s advice, and only travel if their journey is absolutely essential.
For people who need to travel on affected routes a bus replacement service will run on a number of lines from Friday 10 April to Monday 13 April. There will also be additional services along the Bexleyheath line.
Tickets will be accepted on all reasonable routes - London Underground between Victoria, Charing Cross, Embankment, Waterloo, Southwark, Embankment, & London Bridge.
Tickets will also be accepted on London Bus routes 126, 261 & 314 between Bromley North and Grove Park.
You can find out more about these works on our dedicated web page.
Coronavirus measures remain in place on replacement busesSoutheastern, along with the rest of the rail industry is working to support efforts to delay the spread of coronavirus and to keep services running for essential travel.
Social distancing measures will be implemented on replacement bus services.
As part of our work to keep our passengers and staff safe, we have implemented enhanced cleaning and other measures to reduce the risk of viral transmission.
